From Summer Resort to Year-Round Town
Over the past fifteen years Didim has shifted from a purely seasonal holiday town to a coastal community where more and more families live year-round and send their children to school. With that shift came a rapid expansion of the education infrastructure. Today, within the district borders, a full chain of provision exists from nursery to vocational college. The new wave of buyers — particularly families relocating — increasingly ask about distance to school and the quality of local schools before they ask about the sea.
Didim's education infrastructure has grown along three main axes: the state schools concentrated in the Yenihisar neighbourhood in the town centre, the newer buildings in surrounding neighbourhoods (Mavişehir, Akbük, Hisar), and a growing private school / nursery ecosystem. On top of these, the Didim Vocational School of Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADÜ) connects the district to higher education. It may not match Bodrum or Kuşadası in sheer numbers, but Didim's education profile is above average for a coastal district.
Worth knowing: School registration in Didim runs through the e-Okul system on a catchment-area basis tied to the family's residential address. A Seyrantepe or Yeşiltepe address falls within the catchment of the town-centre schools. Details can be confirmed with the District Directorate of National Education (İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü).
Nurseries & Preschool: Ages 0–6
Early-years education has seen both public and private investment in Didim. Stand-alone state nurseries, run by the Ministry of National Education, operate in several neighbourhoods, while the preschool classes attached to primary schools take in the 60–72-month age group.
The private sector has grown in recent years with both branded chains and independent boutique nurseries. Most are concentrated in Yenihisar and Altınkum. Half-day, full-day and broader summer-programme options are available. Foreign-language (mostly English-led) programmes have spread over the last three years as local demand has grown.
Stand-alone State Nurseries
Run by the Ministry of National Education, free, 60–72-month group. Registration is via e-Okul and tied to your address.
Preschool Class (within Primary)
Most state primary schools include a preschool class for the 60–72-month group, with an easy transition into primary in the same building.
Private Nurseries & Preschools
Branches of national chains and boutique nurseries in Yenihisar and Altınkum. Half- or full-day options and language-led programmes.
Bilingual (TR/EN) Programmes
Some private settings run English-led programmes — popular with international residents looking to integrate their children.
Primary & Middle School: Years 1–8
Primary (Years 1–4) and middle school (Years 5–8) are served by a dense network in Didim. Across the district there are both state and private schools at this level. As Yenihisar has historically been the most densely populated neighbourhood, the oldest and largest primary schools sit there. Outlying neighbourhoods such as Mavişehir, Akbük and Hisar have newer buildings with comparatively smaller student numbers.
A key advantage of the state schools is their extensive school-bus network. Paid or, in some cases, state-provided bus services run to outlying residential areas such as Seyrantepe and Yeşiltepe. Between 08:00 and 17:00 the main arteries see steady school-bus traffic. Many parents prefer the bus over driving the children themselves.
Tip: If you are considering a private school, start the registration process in March–May. For state schools, e-Okul makes the catchment-based assignment automatically during the registration window; out-of-catchment requests are submitted by petition to the District Directorate of National Education.
High Schools: Years 9–12
High-school provision in Didim spans several programme types. Academically oriented students attend the Anatolian High Schools (Anadolu Liseleri); vocationally oriented students attend the Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools; and the Multi-Programme Anatolian High Schools combine academic and vocational tracks under one roof. There is also an İmam Hatip (religious vocational) high school in the district.
Anatolian High Schools (Anadolu Liseleri)
Academically focused schools admitting students via the LGS (High School Entrance Exam). The main pillar of university preparation. Several Anatolian High Schools operate in Didim.
LGS · AcademicVocational and Technical Anatolian High School
Vocational programmes in fields such as IT, accountancy, child development, tourism, food and beverage, and motor vehicles. Well-aligned with Didim's tourism economy, with strong placement (internship) opportunities.
Vocational · PlacementsMulti-Programme Anatolian High School
A hybrid offering both academic (Anatolian) and vocational programmes under one roof. A common model in smaller districts, giving students flexibility to switch tracks after Year 9.
Hybrid · FlexibleAnatolian İmam Hatip High School
Combines academic and religious-studies programmes. Provides a path to university while adding an Arabic-led religious curriculum.
Academic + ReligiousBİLSEM: For Gifted Pupils
Didim has a Science and Art Centre (BİLSEM). Run by the Ministry of National Education, BİLSEM provides out-of-hours enrichment for pupils identified as gifted, with support programmes in music, visual arts, general intellectual ability and leadership. The identification process begins in Year 1, through teacher nomination and screening exams.
The practical benefit for families: the child continues at their regular school, while attending BİLSEM on selected weekday afternoons or weekends for a creativity- and science-led enrichment curriculum. Many smaller districts in Türkiye lack this provision — it is one of the factors that families relocating to Didim often weigh up.
University: ADÜ Didim Vocational School
The Didim Vocational School (Meslek Yüksekokulu) of Aydın Adnan Menderes University is the district's higher-education arm. It offers two-year associate-degree programmes in fields such as Tourism and Hotel Management, Banking and Insurance, Logistics, Computer Programming and Child Development — all career-oriented. Students can transfer to a full four-year degree via the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam).
For four-year undergraduate study, Aydın Adnan Menderes University's main campuses are in Aydın (~1 hour 30 minutes away). Closer four-year alternatives include Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in Muğla (~2 hours), the campuses around Bodrum/Akyaka, and Pamukkale University in Denizli. Even so, a "2+2" route — living in Didim and completing the associate degree first, then transferring vertically — remains a popular cost-effective option for many students.
Important: Which programmes the ADÜ Didim MYO offers depends on university-level decisions. For the current list of open programmes, check the Didim MYO page on the official ADÜ website. The university registration period opens each year in early September, after YKS placement results.
Language Courses & Tutoring
A significant share of Didim's year-round population consists of international residents (mainly British, Irish, German and Scandinavian). This has created a lively ecosystem of courses — both teaching Turkish to their children and English to Turkish students. Several language schools, private tutors and certification programmes (TOEFL, IELTS, YDS preparation) operate in Yenihisar.
On top of these, maths and science tutoring centres, music schools (piano, guitar, violin), ballet and modern-dance studios, and robotics / coding workshops have spread in recent years. Study centres see particularly heavy demand during the LGS and YKS preparation periods.
How far are the schools from Seyrantepe and Yeşiltepe?
RedRock's Seyrantepe and Yeşiltepe portfolio sits at a strategic distance from the school cluster in Didim's town centre. Whether your child goes to a state or a private school, it is not walking distance — but with school buses, the main road network and a private car, the journey is around 10 minutes. That fits a family's daily routine: free from the pressure of being on the school's doorstep, but close enough to make the commute uneventful.

Practical Info: Registration & Transport
e-Okul registration: Enrolment in state schools is allocated automatically by the e-Okul system based on the family's residential address. Families are notified by SMS at the start of summer (late June – early July). Out-of-catchment requests are submitted by petition to the provincial / district Directorate of National Education.
Private school registration: Applications run from March to May. Many schools offer early-application discounts, sibling discounts and scholarships.
School buses: Most private schools run their own school-bus networks. For state schools, paid private buses or MEB-approved transported-education options can be used. Seyrantepe–Yeşiltepe sits on the main school-bus routes.
Tutoring & study centres: Several study centres operate in central Yenihisar. LGS preparation peaks in Years 7–8, YKS preparation in Years 11–12.
For international residents: Where children were not born in Türkiye, the Ministry runs an integration class programme, with additional language support for pupils whose Turkish is below grade level.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there enough school provision in Didim?
Yes. There are more than 50 educational institutions across the district, covering the full chain from nursery and primary through middle, high school and vocational university. Outlying neighbourhoods (Akbük, Mavişehir) have their own schools too.
Is the school commute from Seyrantepe / Yeşiltepe practical?
Yes. The town-centre schools are 10–12 minutes away by car, and the school-bus network runs regularly along this route. Mornings and afternoons see more traffic, but congestion is not a significant issue.
Are there English-led private schools?
Several private settings run English-intensive programmes, while Turkish-support programmes are also available for international residents. Bilingual nursery options are concentrated in Yenihisar and Altınkum.
What's available locally for university study?
The Didim Vocational School of Aydın Adnan Menderes University offers two-year associate degrees (tourism, banking, logistics, computer programming, child development and more). For four-year programmes, the nearest hub is Aydın (~1.5 hours).
What is BİLSEM, and how does my child apply?
The Science and Art Centre offers out-of-school enrichment for gifted pupils. Identification begins in Years 1–3 of primary — class teachers nominate candidates, and selection is then through MEB exams. The District Directorate of National Education can provide details.
How does enrolment work for foreign-national children?
Foreign children with a residence permit in Türkiye can enrol in state schools. Where their Turkish is below grade level, they receive additional support in an integration class. Acceptance into private schools is decided on a school-by-school basis.
What is the "catchment area" (kayıt çevresi)?
It is the system by which state schools assign pupils based on residential address. A Seyrantepe / Yeşiltepe address falls within the catchment of the town-centre school cluster — though the final assignment is made by e-Okul. Confirm the address with the District Directorate of National Education for certainty.
